Combining Clinical, Non-clinical and Visual Informations to Build an Artificial Intelligent Agent for Fall Prevention and Dialogs with Patient


The present work proposes a methodology to combine clinical, non-clinical and visual information to build an intelligent assistant to interact and care for patients with fall risk. This work utilizes the most advanced techniques of Natural Language Processing (NLP) to generate dialogs with the patient and Data Science techniques combined with Pose Estimation Algorithms (Computer Vision) to estimate patient's fall risk.

3D Reconstruction of Cranial Medical Images Based on Bio-inspired Algorithms and Deep Learning


The present work proposes a method for the visualization of 3D models of the skull labeled with cephalometric fiducial points. This approach consists of the use of convolutional neural networks for the automatic identification of cephalometric fiducial points, as well as the use of bio-inspired algorithms in the segmentation of Computed Tomography (CT) images for the reconstruction of the three-dimensional model.

A Model for Abstractive Summarization of Scientific Papers Methodology


This project aims to present a methodology based on machine learning techniques for abstractive summarization of the methodology of scientific articles.

Alignment of 3D Medical models on Microsoft Hololens


This research project aims to perform the alignment of 3D models visualized with Microsoft Hololens with real images on which the models are being projected, using methods of fiducial point detection such as SIFT and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN).

q-GABOR: A proposal of non-extensive version for gabor functions


Gabor functions are an important mechanism to model several types of physical phenomenon. This project proposes for the first time the non-extensive version, named here as q-Gabor, of such functions formalizing them in the spatial domain and demonstrates their usability in digital image processing and computer vision applications.

Automatic Reconstruction of 3D Objects in Indoor Environments with Microsoft Hololens


This project aims to propose modern methods, based on algorithms such as SIFT-CNN, for automatic modeling of volumetric objects with projection of textures on the mesh produced by Microsoft Hololens.

Image Segmentation Using Bio-Inspired Algorithms and Neural Networks with Applications for Medical and Biological Images


The main objective of this project is the use of bio-inspired and level set algorithms to aid the training of a CNN in the task of segmentation using cited database.

Body language classification of patients in bed using deep learning


When humans communicate, part of the information is transmitted non-verbally through gestures, facial expressions or body pose. If we analyze this interaction within the scope of health research, specifically between the interactions of hospital staff and patients, this type of information becomes more important due to the fact that an early detection of anomalous behaviors in patients can be fundamental to avoid the worsening of some diseases.

Navigation in unstructured dynamic environments applied to minimally invasive surgeries


The present work aims to propose an image based navigation system to aid physicians in minimally invasive surgeries.
